Why Use GYST’s Digital Archiving Service?
We specialized in creating digital images from slides, film, photos and documents. Our trained staff are artists, including our image scanner and we understand artists’ needs better than most other scanning businesses.
We use professional grade equipment: our scanner is an Epson Perfection 750V Pro, our scanning software is SilverFast Ai 6 for professional quality image scanning. Our monitor and scanner are color calibrated
While other scanning companies use the filters built in to the software without looking at your images, we actually determine what you need.
Why We Recommend Digitizing Your Artwork Images:
- Slides will deteriorate over time. Colors fade, film emulsions break down and other surface defects will affect the image quality.
- Most of places you apply for grants or exhibitions online require digital files to submit.
- Once your images are digitized, you can easily import them into software for artists to keep track of all your work, your sales, your shows etc. (GYST has this software for sale).
- You can back up all of your digitized images on a DVD and put them in a safety deposit box once a year in case your studio should ever flood, catch fire, or other disaster.
Our basic slide scanning service always includes: ($2. each slide)
• All slides are cleaned with compressed air to remove loose debris
• We scan your image at 300 dpi, long side 3000 pixels
• We make a thumbnail image at 72 dpi, long side 1200
• Saved as a standard file such as jpeg, tiff, gif or png
• We will name your image files with your name and a #, you can then change those titles on your own computer
• Additional sizes or formats will be charged by the hour

• Additional sizes or non standard files
• Custom color correction
• Removing scratches and extreme dust
• Restoration
• Custom naming of files
How do I get started?
1. Download the image archive
form. Fill it out and send it to GYST.
2. Email GYST with any questions, or to set up a meeting, or to coordinate how you will get us your materials.
NEGATIVES AND FILM ($25/HR)

• Reviews and Articles from print will be scanned or typed (this way they can be inserted into your software so you will always have these files.)
