GYST WRITES SAMPLE PRESS RELEASE TO HELP ARTISTS OFALL KINDS RULE THE WORLD
Artists Everywhere Can Use It To Write Their Own
The first sentence should hook the reader with metal talons. They should be unable to resist the information in your press release. The first paragraph should say who is presenting work, what the event will feature, where the event is, when the event will take place, and why people should go. These Five W’s are very important.
The second paragraph should state the most important features of the event. Use facts and descriptive language to talk about the event. GYST always says, “Including a quote from the artist or a respected reviewer or the venue in your press release is always a good idea because publications always like to provide a quotation from a knowledgeable source.”
Use the rest of the paragraphs in your press release to state facts about your exhibition in descending order from most to least-important. Keep sentences short.
Make sure your press release is free of spelling and grammar mistakes. Provide interesting, relevant information about your project and why it is important to art, the community, or contemporary, news-worthy issues, and you will be more likely to get news coverage.
